Why SSI Rescue Diver? The SSI Rescue Diver will expand your knowledge and experience beyond purely recreational level because you'll learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence. As an Open Water Diver you have already discovered that diving is more than just a sport, it is "BECOMING A LIFESTYLE"! The adventure and excitement it brings makes life just that much more rewarding. The "Life Style" of diving is one of exotic weekends, underwater exploration, exhilarating photography opportunities and a chance to become part of an elite club of "SSI RESCUE DIVERS". "SSI RESCUE DIVERS" take part in activities that others just dream about. Inter-related skills such as taking pictures on a deep dive or shooting underwater video on a night dive while using underwater communications are experiences that you begin to plan with your family or your diving partners because of the friendships, the common ground and shared experiences it creates for you and your family. You are now gaining those experiences that allow you to create adventures, fun, and recreation within a wide variety of scuba diving destinations. As the "Adventures" require more skill or as your RESPONSIBILITY takes on new importance (you become more responsible for your dive partner, spouse or children) you need more expert information, knowledge and skills to be able to enjoy the responsibility of being a "SSI RESCUE DIVER" and a Great Diving Partner! What do I need to start? SSI Open Water Diver or SSI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization) Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for SSI Junior Rescue Diver) Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months (Emergency First Response or Medic First Aid)

The best buddy any diver can have is one who not only knows what to do in the event of an emergency, but also knows how to prevent most emergencies from occurring in the first place.
